Manila, Sep 3 (EFE / EPA) .- Around a dozen people demonstrated Thursday outisde the Department of Justice in Manila against a judge's decision to release US Marine Joseph Scott Pemberton early after being convicted for the murder of Jennifer Laude.Marine Joseph Scott Pemberton was charged with the murder of Jennifer Laude, a transgender woman, in October 2014 in the Philippine city of Olongapo, in the north of the country.Olongapo, one of the towns in the Philippines that receives the highest number of sex tourists, is located a few kilometers from Subic Bay, where Pemberton participated in joint military exercises organized each year by the US and the Philippines. A 23-year old woman who admitted to being the driver for the killer in last week’s brutal killing of Dallas dentist Kendra Hatcher has been arrested, but cops are still looking for more suspects.Dental assistant Crystal Cortes has been charged with capital murder and is being held on a $250,000 bond.Hatcher was shot dead by a single gunshot after parking her car in the garage of the Gables Park 17 apartment complex in Dallas at around 7.45pm last Wednesday.Cortes was named as a suspect after the owner of a jeep Cherokee identified by police in connection with the shooting said that he had loaned the vehicle to a friend, who had then borrowed it to Cortes.Cortes, who turned herself in, told police that she had been paid $500 by an unidentified person to drive an unnamed male suspect to commit a robbery.Cortes drove the suspect into the parking lot of Gables Park 17 where they then waited for Hatcher to pull into a space.The suspect shot Hatcher dead before taking some of her belongings.Police have not yet indicated whether Cortes knew the victim, and so far have not identified any other suspects.
