Yangon, Jul 19 (EFE/EPA).- Myanmar on Monday marked the 74th Martyrs' Day, which commemorates the country's independence heroes. This year, deposed Myanmar leader Aung San Suu Kyi cannot attend the 74th Martyrs' Day, as she has been under arrest by the military in a raid on 1 February.The late general Aung San, also known as "Bogyoke" (Major General) was the founder of Myanmar's military - the Tatmadaw - and the main actor in securing the country's independence from Britain, which had ruled Myanmar since 1824.
