A solemn ceremony to mark the 20th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks on the United States got under way in New York on Saturday under tight security. A marching band launched the start of the service at Ground Zero, where Al-Qaeda hijackers slammed jetliners into the World Trade Center killing almost 3,000 people.
