A stranded cargo ship causes river traffic to be halted on the Rhine in western Germany after suffering a technical fault, authorities say. The incident comes at a time when water transport is already suffering as the result of drought, which has caused the water in the river to drop to a level considered inaccessible for shipping. The vessel is stuck at St Goar and Oberwesel, between the cities of Mainz and Koblenz, river police say, adding that they expect to clear the stricken ship within a day. IMAGES
