The Nissan Qashqai is now on sale with an all-new 1.3-litre petrol engine. It’s the latest chapter in the success story of the Qashqai – Europe’s best-selling crossover – and one which further enhances the SUV’s appeal with consumers. The highly efficient new engine – which is available in 140 PS and 160 PS outputs – delivers reduced fuel consumption and lower CO2 emissions. It draws on the strength and resources of the Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi Alliance and has been developed in collaboration with Daimler. The engine is making its Nissan debut in the Qashqai. It is available linked to a six-speed manual transmission and an all-new seven-speed Dual Clutch Transmission (DCT), both of which are front-wheel drive. It’s the first time a DCT has appeared in a volume Nissan model, and provides customers with a sporty and more direct dynamic experience, improved standing-start performance and smooth power delivery.
A fresh call to adventure has sounded in the medium-SUV segment with the arrival of the new-generation Nissan X-Trail, redesigned from the ground up to deliver even more family freedom.Thanks to the new Alliance CMF-C platform, which showcases advanced engineering, innovation and technology, the new X-Trail again raises the bar in its segment.Nissan’s new X-Trail is structurally more rigid, more aerodynamically efficient, introduces a host of new active and passive safety features, has a revised cabin layout with premium features and materials, and introduces a raft of new technical aids including ProPILOT and more standard additions to the Nissan Intelligent Mobility suite.The all-new model, which shares engineering platforms with the bigger Qashqai, is slightly shorter than before (4680mm) but is wider (+20mm to 1840mm), taller (+15mm to 1725mm) and provides more rear leg room, with bigger-opening rear door apertures for easier rear access and egress. The wheelbase remains unchanged at 2705mm.An all-LED slimline lighting package front and rear, with bright multi-reflector LEDs for high and low beam driving and wrap-round boomerang-shaped tail lighting, complements Nissan’s signature-V-motion brand identity across all models. Adaptive beam matrix lighting, which splits the headlight beams into 12 individually controlled segments, appears on Ti and Ti-L models.
Nothing stands still for long in the highly competitive crossover segment that Nissan pioneered with the original Qashqai. And to maintain its place as the reference in its segment, it has received a comprehensive aesthetic refresh, as well as significant technology updates.From the bold changes to the exterior styling, to the comprehensive updates to the infotainment and connected services on-board, the philosophy behind the changes to Qashqai is to keep the essence of what consumers love about the car, enhance its strengths and to add even more intuitive and convenient technology.The new Qashqai exudes a sharp and modern dynamism thanks to its refreshed design.The front grille of the Qashqai has been comprehensively updated to create a more striking first impression. Inspired by the patterns of ancient Japanese armour scales, it now consists of dozens of high gloss, three dimensional comma-shaped elements painted in high gloss black paint which appear to float in the space between the lip of the bonnet and the numberplate holder. To the sides of the central portion, the "commas" form a triangular shape from the new headlights down to a point to the side of the numberplate and they are finished in a "satin chrome" hot foil stamp, on the top grade version.The flanks of the bumper are body-coloured and a strip of black in a high-gloss finish runs below the numberplate to the lower corners of the bumper. Underneath the cooling aperture, there is a thin body-coloured "chin strap" which gives a sense of definition to the front.
The Qashqai, which is regarded as a pioneer in the crossover segment, is once again setting standards: the compact bestseller is the first Nissan model in Europe to feature the unique e-POWER drive.The system, which was developed independently by the company, offers the advantages of purely electric driving without having to worry about range and long charging times. In contrast to conventional hybrid vehicles, the electric motor, which responds immediately and linearly, always drives the wheels. The energy is supplied by a battery, which a small combustion engine charges while driving.
Nissan has again raised the small SUV bar with a completely new Qashqai that is even roomier than before, and which features a new turbo-petrol engine with more power and torque, improved fuel economy and lower emissions.Penned at the studios of Nissan Design Europe in London and engineered at the Nissan Technical Centre in Bedfordshire, UK, the new Qashqai is also the first vehicle globally to use Nissan’s innovative CMF-C architecture, which boasts a 48 percent increase in structural rigidity.In terms of construction, the body-in-white makes use of more lightweight materials, as well as advanced stamping and welding techniques, not just to increase strength, but to also reduce weight. For the first time, the rear hatchback door on the Qashqai is now made of a composite material, which saves a further 2.6kg.Central to the engineering vision was to retain the current Qashqai’s proportions, which are “just right” and key to its success, meaning it comfortably navigates urban roads and fits comfortably in parking spaces, while also giving excellent interior space.The front and rear doors, front fenders and bonnet are all now made of aluminium, which offers a weight-saving, and the total net advantage for customers, thanks to all the advanced manufacturing techniques, is that the overall body-in-white is lighter by 60kg and stiffer by 41 percent compared to the outgoing model.
