Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's coalition plunged into chaos on Monday, after mass overnight protests over the sacking of his defence chief piled pressure on the government to halt its bitterly contested plans to overhaul the judiciary.
Yoav Gallant's plea comes after three months of weekly mass protests that have seen more than half a million people take to the streets to oppose reforms critics say will undermine the independence of the judiciary and could be used for political ends.
