ABT CUPRA XE confirms its participation in the 2023 Extreme E season, unveils a new livery for the Tavascan XE, and announces its new driver line-up. This year, Nasser Al-Attiyah is joined by Klara Andersson, after impressive performances last year, including a podium finish in Chile in September and the team’s victory at the Energy X Prix in Uruguay in November.

    ABT CUPRA XE is aiming to end the Extreme E Season 2 on a high as team drivers Nasser Al-Attiyah and Klara Andersson team up once again for the final round of the series, the Energy X Prix.The event takes place in Punta del Este in Uruguay over the weekend of 26-27 November, where the all-electric off-road CUPRA Tavascan XE, will get its final competitive outing of 2022.Al-Attiyah and Andersson teamed up for the first time at the previous Antofagasta Minerals Copper X Prix in Chile, where they scored a sensational podium finish – the ABT CUPRA XE team’s best result of the Extreme E Season 2 so far.It was a magnificent achievement, not least as Andersson had been drafted into the team at short notice and had to quickly get to grips with driving the CUPRA Tavascan XE and the challenge of the rollercoaster Copper X Prix loose surface track.Having qualified for the final, Al-Attiyah and Andersson – who had quickly established a good rapport – performed brilliantly to be classified third and score the first podium finish for ABT CUPRA XE in Extreme E Season 2.Following on from that success, Al-Attiyah and Andersson will be reunited in Uruguay for the final round of Extreme E Season 2 – with the aim of continuing their triumphant partnership and scoring another excellent result for the team.

    Fast times, thrilling competition, great teamwork, and a bit of drama here and there – ABT CUPRA XE’s season opener had it all and whets the appetite for the races ahead.Neom (Saudi Arabia) was the location for the start of the second season of Extreme E and hopes were high for 2022 to be a great year for the ABT CUPRA XE team. The goal is to pick up race wins and podium finishes, and get the maximum out of every round of the calendar. With Nasser Al-Attiyah joining CUPRA veteran Jutta Kleinschmidt, the team was ready to move to the next level this season. However, in racing things aren’t always easy, and that’s what happened in Saudi Arabia over the first Extreme E weekend of 2022.
