Disruptive, emotional, and expressive. With the CUPRA Tavascan, our team of designers has created a design language that is intended for the new generation of car lovers. Julio Lozano, Head of Exterior Design at CUPRA, explains how this challenging creation has led to new opportunities to show the world “who we are and how we want to be at CUPRA”.
CUPRA reveals the design secret of the CUPRA DarkRebel and makes its vision of the automotive future come true. The concept vehicle embodies the maximum provocation of the CUPRA design language and sets new standards in design and performance. It is the first vehicle designed entirely in CUPRA virtual space for a future generation of drivers. The CUPRA DarkRebel Showcar is the result of more than 270,000 configurations by the CUPRA Tribe, which also includes brand ambassadors such as FC Barcelona players Alexia Putellas, Marc ter Stegen and actor Daniel Brühl. The data collected in the online hyperconfigurator flowed into the final design of the CUPRA DarkRebel show car, which has now found its way from the virtual to the real world with the unveiling of the physical version at the IAA MOBILITY in Munich. The result is an all-electric, two-seat, shooting-brake sports car that reflects the passion and disruptive mindset of the CUPRA brand. Examples of this are a mysterious, mercury-like exterior color, the innovative use of light as a tactile material and a more consistent focus on sustainability.
Every new model begins with an exercise in creativity by its designers. There are no limits. It has to stand out, catch you off guard, and lead the way for the brand’s future design. Perhaps that model will be an example of where the brand wants to go, or it may become something you can reach out and touch. This is the case of the CUPRA Tavascan. It was unveiled in 2019 at the Frankfurt Motor Show as a concept car that surprised with its bold lines and rule-breaking design. Four years later it once again astonished the world during its world premiere in Berlin, a model that hasn’t lost an ounce of its essence while maintaining CUPRA’s leitmotiv - if we can dream it, we can create it.
