Russian police detain several prominent reporters as they protest against the arrest of an investigative journalist on drugs charges in front of the Moscow police headquarters. Ivan Golunov, a reporter with Meduza independent news site, was detained in central Moscow on Thursday and police have opened an investigation into manufacturing and dealing drugs. The United States renews calls for Russia to free Wall Street Journal reporter Evan Gershkovich after his detention was extended until August 30. "The claims against Evan are baseless and we continue to call for his immediate release as well as for the immediate release of Paul Whelan," State Department spokesman Matthew Miller tells reporters, referring to Gershhovich and detained former marine Whelan. UK Prime Minister, Rishi Sunak, evokes the spirit of Winston Churchill as he welcomes Ukrainian President, Volodymyr Zelensky, in the room from which Britain's World War Two leader made some of his most famous speeches.
