Volvo unveiled our new, state-of-the-art Design Studio Shanghai. It’s based in one of the most vibrant and creative cities in Asia, and expands our global design footprint by joining our existing studios in Gothenburg and Camarillo.The Shanghai studio aims to be one of the most comprehensive design studios of global car brands in Asia. Mirroring our design headquarters in Gothenburg, the Shanghai studio has all the functions needed to facilitate the whole design process – from concept to production. The impressive capabilities allow for producing scale to full-size models for interior, exterior, colour and material, as well as UX design. On top of milling machines, 3D printers and fully equipped workshops for producing accurate models more efficiently than ever, the Shanghai designers also have access to VR environments where they can explore designs in the virtual world.

  • Volvo XC40 Recharge Design in Studio

    The Volvo XC40 Recharge luxury compact SUV, the first pure electric vehicle from the Swedish carmaker, has been selected as a 2021 North American Utility of the Year semi-finalist. It is the seventh Volvo in six years to be in the running for the prestigious award. The XC40 Recharge is everything customers expect from a Volvo, with the addition of a state-of-the-art, fully electric all-wheel drive powertrain that offers a projected range of over 200 miles on a single charge and output of 402 horsepower. The large, 78 kWh battery can be fast-charged to 80 percent of its capacity in approximately 40 minutes on a DC fast-charger system of up to 150 kW under optimal charging conditions. The Volvo XC40 Recharge also introduces a brand-new infotainment system powered by Android with Google technologies built-in. The new system offers full integration of Android Automotive OS, Google’s open-source Android platform, with real-time updates to services such as Google Maps, Google Assistant and automotive apps created by the global developer community.

  • Volvo C40 Recharge Studio

    The future of Volvo Cars is electric and the new Volvo C40 Recharge is the latest manifestation of its commitment to a zero emission future. The C40 Recharge has all the benefits of an SUV but with a lower and sleeker design. It is based on the CMA vehicle platform and the first Volvo model in history designed as pure electric only. Following the introduction of the XC40 Recharge and now the C40 Recharge, Volvo Cars will roll out several additional electric models in coming years. Already by 2025, it aims for 50 per cent of its global sales volume to consist of fully electric cars, with the rest hybrids. By 2030, it plans for every car it sells to be pure electric.

    The V60 Cross Country is Volvo's 5-door, 5-seat mid-size all-road estate. It is built on the Scalable Product Architecture (SPA), Volvo's advanced modular product platform that underpins all Volvos in the 90 and 60 Series.Since the introduction of the first Cross Country over 20 years ago, Volvo Cars has become synonymous with the rugged all-road, all-weather segment. The Volvo V60 Cross Country takes the elegance of the V60 and transforms it into an all-road estate that delivers safety, practicality, comfort and performance in a capable and adventurous package.Like the S60 sedan, the Volvo V60 Cross Country carries the proud and confident face of Volvo's design language, along with classic Volvo styling cues. Key features include the iconic "Thor's Hammer" LED headlight design, the new grille and Volvo Iron Mark, and the expressive use of the Volvo word mark on the rear.Exterior design cues underline the car's Cross Country nature, while an increased ride height of 60 mm and a chassis optimised for comfort and control in all weather and road conditions further add to the car's special position within the Volvo portfolio.Inside, Volvo has taken cues from the clean, Scandinavian interior design first introduced in the 90 Series cars, raising the bar in the segment with natural materials and new details on the dashboard and instrument panel.

  • The new Škoda Kodiaq Exterior Design in Studio

    Škoda Auto presents the second generation of the Kodiaq, taking sustainability, spaciousness and safety to a new level. The Czech car manufacturer’s SUV flagship has seen its dimensions increased once again and now features the first elements of the Modern Solid design language. The all-new Kodiaq comes with state-of-the-art infotainment systems, including an optional 13-inch screen and a head‑up display. Innovative Škoda Smart Dials with haptic controls and a 10-inch Virtual Cockpit come as standard. The voice control system will from mid-2024 onwards become even more advanced with the integration of the AI-based chatbot ChatGPT. Škoda’s large SUV also adopts a new interior concept based on Design Selections. The five powertrains offer outputs from 110 kW (150 hp) to 150 kW (204 hp) and are always mated to a DSG automatic transmission. The powertrain line-up now also includes a plug in hybrid version with an electric range of more than 100 kilometres and an entry-level mild-hybrid powertrain. The two top engines are combined with all-wheel drive as standard. Also making their debuts are the latest generations of the LED Matrix beam headlights with a significantly higher light output and the Dynamic Chassis Control system (DCC Plus).
