Air France presents A220 plane for Europe trips

Paris, Sep 29 (EFE).- (Camera: Ángel Calvo) Air France presented on Wednesday the first Airbus aircraft of the A220 model that it will incorporate into its fleet and that from the end of October will be used for flights between Paris and various European cities, starting with Madrid, Barcelona, ??Berlin, Milan and Venice.FOOTAGE OF THE PRESENTATION. SOUNDBITES OF AIR FRANCE CEO BENJAMIN SMITH; AND THE FRENCH SECRETARY OF STATE FOR TRANSPORTATION, JEAN-BAPTISTE DJEBBARI.Translation:Air France CEO Benjamin Smith:"It is good news for us, really good news. The announcement made by the States two weeks ago of the opening of their borders. It was expected for the month of July but it is good news. During the summer we had strong demand in Europe, higher than that of 2019 in some countries around the Mediterranean. But during the third quarter, we had only 65% ??of our offer and for the fourth quarter it will be practically the same".French Secretary of State for Transport, Jean-Baptiste Djebbari:"It is a new aircraft in the Air France fleet that arrives at a particular time. It is a time of recovery but the crisis continues and above all a time when the aeronautical sector has to meet environmental objectives. This aircraft participates in this spirit of reconquest and credibility of the collective commitments that we have assumed for the decarbonization of aviation. It is an aircraft that generates less noise, that pollutes less. It is the appropriate aircraft for this reconquest operation in the post-crisis world. "
