Quito, Jul 30 (EFE) .- Park rangers from a marine reserve in northwestern Ecuador, members of the Navy and fishermen have rescued a humpback whale.
A Russian sailor travelling solo from Stockholm to Spain was shipwrecked on a tiny bit of rock near the remote Swedish island of Stora Lundskar in the Baltic Sea last week, losing all his communication equipment in the accident. The unnamed Russian man wrote the word HELP in moss which he collected from the island in the hope that a passing aircraft might see it. A helicopter patrol saw the letters and brought to a nearby hospital in Linkoping for treatment.
After becoming beached and entangled in a fishing net in Australia's Moreton Bay, a humpback whale is rescued and swims back to safety.

People gather on the beach as a sperm whale (Physeter macrocephalus) remains stranded alive in Morro das Pedras beach, Florianopolis, southern Brazil. The specimen, a young adult female, approximately 11 meters long, was found dead on October 2, according to local organization ProFranca Instituto Australis. IMAGES
