US National Security Advisor tells reporters at the White House that any Russian attack on Ukraine would be "likely to begin with aerial bombing and missile attacks that could obviously kill civilians without regard to their nationality." "It is certainly possible that Russia could make additional tactical gains in the coming weeks" against Ukraine, US national security advisor Jake Sullivan says during a White House news briefing. SOUNDBITE
The White House sends its condolences to the victims of a "terrible" shooting at a concert hall in the Russian capital Moscow. "Our thoughts are with the victims of this terrible, terrible shooting attack," National Security Council spokesman John Kirby tells reporters. "The images are just horrible and just hard to watch," he adds. SOUNDBITE
The United States announces an "emergency package of security assistance of $300 million" to Ukraine. "This is possible because of unanticipated costs savings in contracts that DOD negotiated to replace equipment we've already sent to Ukraine through previous drawdown," US National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan tells reporters at the White House.
