Nigel Farage, leader of the UK Independence Party (UKIP) Nigel Farage resigned from his position in London, Monday. He added that a new UKIP leader will be put in place by the party’s autumn conference. As one of the central politicians to lead the Leave campaign in the UK EU referendum, Farage is considered to have been instrumental in using the topic of immigration to push UK voters to withdraw from the union.

UK negotiator for Brexit David Frost remains in Brussels for ongoing Brexit talks. Chief EU negotiator Michel Barnier on Monday 14 December signalled there was a "narrow path" to a post-Brexit trade deal with Britain, as key sticking points remain after both sides abandoned a supposed make-or-break deadline.
