The US Secretary of State Antony Blinken warns his Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov that the US and it's European allies are prepared to take "united, swift and severe action" against Russia if they pursue aggressive action against Ukraine. SOUNDBITE
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky insists that a special tribunal must be created to hold Russia to account for its "aggression". "When there is a tradition of inevitable punishment of aggression, then there will be a tradition of guaranteed non-repetition of aggression," he tells diplomats and officials at the International Criminal Court in The Hague, which has issued an arrest warrant for Russia's Vladimir Putin over a war crime charge. Metropolitan Pavlo, the director of the Ukrainian capital's historic Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra monastery, appears in court on the charges of inciting religious hatred and denying Russian aggression. Despite the church officially breaking ties with the Russian Patriarchate after the invasion of Ukraine last year, Kyiv believes it is still de facto dependent on Moscow. IMAGES

US ambassador John Sullivan leaves the Russian Foreign Ministry in Moscow, after meeting with Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Grushko, and handing Washington's response to Moscow's security demands, according to Grushko. "The head of the American diplomatic mission handed over a written response of the US administration to the draft bilateral treaty on security guarantees," the Russian foreign ministry said in a statement following Sullivan's meeting with Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Grushko.
