Resumed air strikes pounded militant targets in Gaza and Palestinian groups fired volleys of rockets the other way, following the end of a truce on Friday that marked the first pause in the fighting since October 7, when Hamas launched its deadly attacks. The attacks killed 1,200 people and saw a further 240 taken hostage by the group, with Israel's response -- a relentless military operation -- killing more than 15,000 in Gaza, according to the territory's Hamas-run health ministry.
