L'hélicoptère est identifié comme un modèle Mil Mil-8 de l'armée de l'air ukrainienne. Le drone, lui, est associé aux forces russes et a été catégorisé dans la classe Shahed. L’emploi d’une mitrailleuse est considéré comme l’une des options les plus économiques pour détruire ces aéronefs sans pilote, en évitant d’avoir à tirer un missile à plusieurs dizaines ou milliers de dollars.
