The GSX-8R introduces a new way of interpreting the concept of a sports motorcycle. This model optimally balances usability, performance and driving pleasure. Its main distinctive element is the new fairing, which on the one hand celebrates the sporting tradition of Hamamatsu and on the other stands out for its smooth surfaces and taut lines. The shape, the result of careful aerodynamic study and in-depth wind tunnel tests, makes the GSX-8R seem to always be leaning forward, as if it were about to sprint. Suzuki designers have managed to combine form and function. The tapered profile protects the rider from the air and bad weather, while improving stability at higher speeds.Behind a fairing that supports the mirrors and which houses LED lights that are as compact as they are effective in illuminating the road, there is a command bridge dominated by a pair of forged aluminum handlebars. Suzuki test riders defined their position with extreme care, creating a sporty but not extreme position, which makes riding engaging while limiting fatigue even during long-distance touring. The fairing panels and the 14-litre tank reveal the steel tube frame and the compact 776 cm3 parallel twin engine with 270° valve timing and DOHC DOHC distribution with four valves per cylinder. The technicians chose to confirm the configuration already adopted by the GSX-8S, which combines generous pull at low revs with brilliant acceleration and excellent efficiency. Maximum torque is 78 Nm at 6,800 rpm, while peak power is 61 kW (83 hp) at 8,500 rpm, with consumption of 4.2 l/100 km in the WMTC mixed cycle. The motorbike also exists in a depowered 35 kW (48 hp) version for A2 license holders.Among the engine's flagships is the Suzuki Cross Balancer, a revolutionary patented system that effectively reduces vibrations. The engine is managed in an integrated manner with all the on-board electronics by the Suzuki Intelligent Ride System.
Deliveries to Suzuki dealerships of the new GSX-8S will start next week. The wait is over, the street fighter completes the series of launches of Hamamatsu's 2023 novelties, which began with the V-Strom 650 Explorer and continued with the V-Strom 1050 MY23 range and with the adventurous V-Strom 800DE. With the latter, the GSX-8S shares the technical platform, which has as its main element an innovative parallel twin-cylinder engine with 270° crank mechanism with exceptional efficiency. The GSX-8S plays a strategic role for Suzuki, because it enters as an absolute protagonist in what is one of the most important and lively segments of the market, that of mid-engined naked bikes. The GSX-8S is placed halfway between the timeless SV650 and the gritty GSX-S950 and GSX-S1000, with which it shows a certain family feeling in terms of aesthetics. The new street fighter marks an evolution of Hamamatsu's most recent stylistic features and adopts essential superstructures that express dynamism. The pointed top fairing, with overlapping LED headlights, position lights and arrows, together with the 14-litre tank and side scoops, contrasts with the minimalist tail and the short and compact exhaust terminal, to make the bike appear leaning forward and ready to shoot. With their streamlined shapes, the superstructures leave both the mechanics and the frame and seat post structure visible, made with a tubular steel trellis. The light and compact engine is a 776 cm3 parallel twin with DOHC DOHC distribution and four valves per cylinder. The technicians have chosen a configuration that manages to combine a generous throw from low revs and a lot of vivacity in the long run with extraordinary efficiency. Maximum torque is 78 Nm at 6,800 rpm, while peak power is 61 kW (83 hp) at 8,500 rpm, with consumption of 4.2 l/100 km in the WMTC mixed cycle. The bike is also available in a depowered 35 kW (48 hp) version for A2 license holders.
The 999 cm3 Euro 5 engine of the GSX-S950 is offered in two power levels, with 70 or 35 kW. This Suzuki is the most powerless motorbike in the list, the only one that can be purchased by A2 license holders capable of giving the thrills and exhilarating sound that only a thousand can offer. Anyone can choose the GSX-S950 that best suits their needs and feel part of an authentic myth, knowing they can count on perfect tuning for their level of experience. The full power version has a maximum power of 70 kW (95 HP) at 7,800 rpm and a maximum torque of 92 Nm at 6,500 rpm, while the weakened version has 35 kW (47.5 HP) at 6,100 rpm and 75 Nm at 3,250 rpm. In both cases, the engine exploits the high displacement to its advantage to respond promptly from low revs and ensure extraordinary smooth running. The street fighter's engine is a close relative of the one that allowed Suzuki to win the 20th World Endurance Championship in its history in 2021, thanks to a perfect balance between performance and reliability. The chassis of the GSX-S950 also derives from that of the multi-victorious GSX-R1000. The lightweight and sturdy double-beam frame is made of aluminum, the same high-quality material also used for the swingarm. The latter acts through a lever on a shock absorber that can be adjusted in spring preload and in the hydraulic brake in extension. Its calibration and that of the 43 mm KYB upside-down fork are optimized to work best with Dunlop Roadsport 2 radial tires fitted as original equipment and designed specifically for the GSX-S950.The braking system features a pair of 310 mm floating front discs on which four-piston monobloc and radial-mount callipers produced by Tokico act.
In 2015, the first Suzuki GSX-S1000 hit the market, bringing the pleasure of riding a sports bike on the road to a new dimension. Today, six years later, the Hamamatsu maxi naked is renewed and revolutionized the street-fighter segment again. The new GSX-S1000 opens up new frontiers in motorcycle design and offers an engaging and exciting experience, in compliance with the limits of the Euro 5 emission standard. The new GSX-S1000 sports a great personality, with an athletic line that suggests what performance the bike is capable of. The futuristic overlapping hexagonal LED headlight makes this Suzuki immediately recognizable and becomes the emblem of the modernity of the many technologies adopted in Hamamatsu. The taut and slender shapes of the front find continuity in the sculptural features of the conveyors and the new 19-liter tank, which improves travel range while remaining very slim. The compact tail and the LED turn signals complete the silhouette in which the muscular central part appears visually projected forward in the maximum expression of dynamism. The colors available for the GSX-S1000 are three. The launch color is Blue, a color that recalls Suzuki’s identity and its commitment to motorsport. Alternatively, customers can choose the brand new Grigio Mat and the gritty Black. All models for Italy are equipped with matching single-seat covers and can be customized thanks to a rich catalog of original accessories. The new GSX-S1000 will be offered at a list price of 13,190 euros.
