Fernando Alonso completed a successful two-day training in the Toyota Hilux on September 2-3 in Szczecin, Poland covering 700 kilometres, including sections used by the recently-concluded Baja Poland. The training course featured a variety of sand tracks, hard and soft soil, and bumpy terrain developed by rally raid specialists and the team’s logistics partner, Overdrive Racing.Fernando will head to South Africa for a non-competitive outing in the Lichtenburg 400, fifth round of the South African Cross Country Series, on September 13-14. Originally scheduled to take place near Harrismith, the event moved to its new location due to unseasonably dry conditions which posed a fire risk.

Here is all you need to know:- After a disappointing day on Sunday when he lost time due to a damaged brake, 2017 bike champion Sam Sunderland bounced back in style to land his second victory of the race.- The start was delayed 30 minutes due to fog, but when they got underway it was American Ricky Brabec who set the early pace, with Sunderland hanging with him for the first 100km. The British rider then upped his form and dominated the remainder of the day to finish nearly two minutes ahead of Jose Ignacio Cornejo and six and-a-half minutes ahead of new race leader Brabec. It is tight at the top, with five riders within 10 minutes of each other.- Sunderland said: “Yesterday I was disappointed because I felt that I rode well and my navigation was good. I started out today with the intention to push a lot. I was going well, but I lost a few minutes at one waypoint. That was frustrating, but I got back on track I feel pretty good.”- In the car race, the day belonged to 13-time winner Stéphane Peterhansel. The Frenchman came out on top of an exciting duel with Nani Roma with the lead exchanging hands multiple times before Peterhansel shook his rival off after 200km.

In both cases, the rear-wheel drive of the Abarth 124 rally contributed to increase the spectacle, exciting the public with long, glides perfectly controlled by the sophisticated electronics that allow the car to perform at absolute level even in critical grip conditions."
"The French pair of Raphael Astier and Frédéric Vauclaire, in the Abarth 124 rally belonging to Team Milano Racing, have won the FIA R-GT world championship with a race to spare after their victory in the Czech Republic in the Barum Czech Rally Zlìn, the fourth event in the series, also valid for the European Championship. Three wins in the three events where they have taken part - the Tour de Corse, the Rally di Roma Capitale and the Barum Czech Rally Zlìn - have enabled Abarth and the French driver to claim the world title with one race still remaining in the championships season: the Rallye du Valais, to be held in Switzerland from 18 to 20 October. So in just its second season, the Abarth spider has won the most coveted title in the spectacular Gran Turismo class, confirming its status as queen of the category. Abarth 124 rally drivers occupy the top 5 positions in the FIA R-GT Cup rankings. Astier, with a score of 75 points, heads the list of Italians Andrea Nucita (33 points), Andrea Modanesi (30 points), Simone Tempestini (18 points), and French driver Philippe Gache (15 points). What's more, in 2018 the 124 rally has picked up an amazing 26 victories in the Abarth 124 rally Selenia International Challenge, the single-make trophy for Abarth 124 drivers competing in the FIA R-GT Cup, the European Rally Championship and the national championships of Italy, France, Spain, the Czech Republic, Switzerland, Romania, Slovenia, Belgium, Austria, Germany and Bulgaria."
