The United States says that Sudan's rival forces have both committed war crimes in their brutal conflict, accusing the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces of ethnic cleansing and crimes against humanity. The two sides "must end this brutal conflict... must comply with their obligations under international humanitarian law, international human rights law," says State Department spokesman Matthew Miller. EU lawmakers approve a resolution that accuses Azerbaijan of carrying out "ethnic cleansing" against the Armenian residents of Nagorno-Karabakh, and urges the bloc to impose sanctions on Baku. According to the resolution, the European Parliament "considers that the current situation amounts to ethnic cleansing and strongly condemns threats and violence committed by Azerbaijani troops". Rakhine, Mar 11 (EFE/EPA).- Myanmar's military junta announced that it has removed the Arakan Army (AA) from its list of terrorist groups as it has ceased its terrorist activities and the measure aims to find a peaceful solution, state media reported on Thursday. The AA, has been fighting for greater autonomy for the western state of Rakhine and was put on the list last year. For the past few years it has maintained one of the main armed conflicts in the country, causing hundreds of civilian fatalities and the displacement of around 200,000.The AA has neither condemned the military coup, as dozens of other ethnic armed groups have, nor has it shown its support for the anti-junta protests.
