The damage wrought by Hurricane Irma left Orlando’s main interstate road with a gigantic hole as seen in drone footage captured on Tuesday. The receding 100 mph winds literally bit a chunk out of an intersection where the I-4 meets the 434 Longwood. Crews have already been called in and are working hard to get the highway back up and running to four lanes as soon as possible, but engineering estimates indicate that the repairs will take about a month to be completed.
Some Florida residents are preparing for Hurricaine Irma under the motto "Better Safe than Sorry".
Ominous looking clouds over a Home Depot in Maitland, Florida greeted shoppers as they prepared to weather one of the worst Atlantic storms on record: Hurricane Irma. Maitland residents bought supplies and materials on Tuesday in preparation for Irma, which is due to hit Florida later in the week. The hardware store was already running out of supplies, having to place a sign up on their entrance stating that they no longer provided water packs, generators, D batteries or gas cans due to high demand.
