EU officials have dismissed new Greek promises of economic reform, saying the proposals were not enough to unlock funds that Athens urgently needs to avoid defaulting on its debts. As Sonia Legg reports, more than half of all Greeks now fear a Greek exit from the euro.
The United States denounces Hong Kong's ban on a protest song sung by pro-democracy demonstrators, saying it further tarnishes the financial hub's reputation. "The decision to ban this song is the latest blow to the international reputation of a city that previously prided itself on having an independent judiciary protecting the free exchange of information, ideas and goods," State Department spokesman Matthew Miller tells reporters. A large crowd of Greek farmers demonstrate on Syntagma Square in central Athens to demand financial aid, escalating a four-week showdown with a government that says it has no more funds to help.
