An Alpine path between two glaciers in Switzerland is emerging for what a local ski resort says is the first time in at least 2,000 years after the hottest European summer on record.
This week it was an oil tanker that rescued desperate migrants, last week it was a cruise ship. On most days, however, it's the Italian navy doing the rescuing - at a record rate. New figures put the number of migrants killed since the start of the year in the Mediterranean Sea at more than 3,000. Is it really a risk worth taking? And what reception are migrants getting on a continent where the rise of the far-right shows that even the most welcoming states are shutting their doors?
