Democrat Sarah McBride has won the race for her state’s first Senate district. This means she will become the first openly transgender state senator in US history. McBride earned herself something of a national profile when she addressed the DNC in 2016. In her speech, she celebrated the chance to elect LGBT+ candidates across the country. McBride’s district is a solidly Democratic one, while Delaware at large is a reliably Democratic state. She joins several other trans leaders at a federal, national, and state level.
Fox News host Chris Wallace moderated the first chaotic, shambolic presidential debate between President Donald Trump and opponent Joe Biden. Now, Business Insider reports Wallace says he was 'pissed off' by the behavior of Trump's family entourage. Upon being seated at the debate, Trump family members had removed their masks, violating agreed-upon debate rules. After I had the luxury to think about it, I was pissed off. White House chief of staff Mark Meadows supposedly broke COVID-19 restriction in May 2020, during the height of the pandemic. Meadows reportedly hosted 70-plus people for his daughter's wedding in Atlanta. The wedding broke the states COVID-19 rules. According to The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, pictures from the event show guests without masks, breaking social distancing rules. Rep. Jim Jordan of Ohio was also reportedly at the event.
The Obama administration will tell every U.S. public school district on Friday to allow transgender students to use bathrooms that match their gender identity. Linda So reports.
