Port-au-Prince, Feb 16 (EFE).- The kidnapping of an elderly man in the Delmas 19 neighborhood in Haiti's capital led to a spontaneous protest on Tuesday by the victim's neighbors, which ended with the dispersion of some 150 people by the Haitian police using tear gas.The victim of the kidnapping is 74-year-old Vienne Dwane, a shopkeeper who residents see as a father figure.According to testimonies, he was taken away by individuals dressed in police uniforms on Monday afternoon. A teenage girl was babysitting a young girl in Fort Collins, Colorado when she saw a man trying to steal the family's truck. She tried to stop him. He strangled her, then shot her dead. The child's mother reportedly discovered the babysitter dead in the family's driveway and allegedly found the suspect attacking her own daughter in the house. Business Insider reports the mother and child hid in the house's crawl space before Weld County Sheriff's deputies and Windsor police responded to the scene. Colorado police have arrested Trevor George, 32, in connection with the murder.
A 64-year-old St. Louis woman went for a jog around her neighborhood, and ultimately collapsed on the sidewalk. Surveillance video later revealed a man pulled up in a van, got out, and approached the woman. But rather than being a Good Samaritan and helping the woman as she lay dying, he stole her phone and drove away. The unnamed woman later died in the hospital. According to Newser, authorities say Brian Davenport, 35, was arrested Monday and is charged with felony stealing.
