Thunder Earth as Cowboys Herd Thousands of Buffalo

Description

What sounded like thunder and explosions across Custer State Park in South Dakota was the sounds of hooves running across the plains. Thousands of big and powerful buffalo stampeded across Custer State Park on Friday, as cowboys and ranchers herded the huge creatures in the 51st annual 'Buffalo Roundup'. Onlookers sat on a hill at a safe distance to watch as the cattle ran along the plains, shaking the ground as they went. Pick-up trucks joined the cowboys on horseback to help guide the buffalo in the right direction. Up to 14,000 people come out to watch the roundup every year. Buffalo are herded in autumn each year in order for them to be sorted, counted and vaccinated.
