It has only been a few weeks since the first photos of the all-new BMW X2 went around the world: Now, it is rolling off the assembly line at BMW Group Plant Regensburg. From now on, different types of drive train will be flexibly manufactured in Regensburg on a single production line – from models with internal combustion engines, to plug-in hybrids, to fully-electric vehicles. Up to 1,000 BMW 1 Series, BMW X1 and BMW X2 models are currently coming off the production line at BMW Group Plant Regensburg every workday – destined for customers worldwide.Lean, green, digital: With BMW iFACTORY, the BMW Group is also setting standards and redefining the future of automotive production at the Regensburg location. For example, BMW Group Plant Regensburg is the automotive industry's first plant worldwide to use an end-to-end digitalised and automated process for inspection, processing and marking of painted vehicle surfaces in standard production that relies on robots controlled by AI (artificial intelligence). For the plant, this represents another step towards the digital, intelligently connected factory.
With the BMW i Vision Circular, the BMW Group is demonstrating the consistent design of a car according to the principles of a circular economy. The overall design goal of this visionary vehicle was to create a vehicle that is optimized for closed material cycles and achieves a rate of 100% recycled materials or 100% recyclability. In addition to bio-based and certified raw materials, materials that have already passed through a product life cycle – so-called secondary materials – are used for this purpose. This also applies to the energy storage system: The solid-state battery of the BMW i Vision Circular is 100% recyclable and almost completely made from recycled materials. At the same time, it will achieve a considerably higher energy density with significantly fewer of the most valuable resources.“We have included circularity in our concept right from the start when designing the BMW i Vision Circular. That's why this visionary vehicle is full of innovative ideas that combine sustainability with new and inspiring aesthetics – we call this approach Circular Design,” explains Adrian van Hooydonk, Head of BMW Group Design. Circular Design is based on the four principles RE:THINK, RE:DUCE, RE:USE and RE:CYCLE.

Volvo snatched its first "Car of the Year" award in more than 50 years on Monday, as its XC40 SUV was crowned on the eve of this year's Geneva International Motor Show. XC40 was made winner by a jury of 60 journalists from 23 European countries after gathering 325 points, an ample margin over the other six finalists that include the second place Seat Ibiza from Spain, the third place BMW 5-series, as well as Alfa Romeo Stelvio, Audi A8, Citroën C3 Aircross, and Kia Stinger. The group of seven finalists came last November from a long list of 37 candidates. The award takes consideration a span of criteria such as innovation and security, design and the value for money. Volvo has been a finalist on a number of occasions, but this is the first time it has won this prestigious award, with 83 points separating it from its competitors.
1.Audi RS 3The new Audi RS 3 offers driving dynamics on the highest level and optimum values in its segment. The new BMW 2 Series Coupé embodies sporting prowess in a particularly concentrated form, with a vehicle concept focused squarely on dynamic excellence, an athletic design, powerful engines and sophisticated chassis technology.4.BMW 4 Series Gran CoupéSignature BMW driving pleasure, sporting elegance and modern functionality come together in the new BMW 4 Series Gran Coupé. Its vehicle concept – comprising four doors, a large tailgate, dynamically flowing lines and five full-size seats – brings a highly distinctive character profile to the premium reaches of the midsize class. The second generation of the BMW 4 Series Gran Coupé also makes its mark in fine style with noticeably enhanced driving dynamics, a sharper design in the brand’s new design language, a refined premium ambience in the cabin and a wide array of innovations in the areas of control/operation and connectivity. Five model variants will be available from launch, developing between 135 kW/184 hp and 275 kW/374 hp.5.BMW i4All-electric mobility reaches the very heart of the BMW brand. The BMW i4 is the brand’s first electric vehicle focused squarely on driving dynamics. Locally emission-free driving pleasure, compromise-free premium quality and customer-oriented individualisation come to the traditional core of the midsize segment for the first time.
