Local residents watched as police officers and FBI agents investigated the house and expressed shock and disbelief that one of their neighbours could be suspected of such a crime.
President Obama asked Americans to not succumb to fear in response to the bombings in the New York and New Jersey and stabbings in Minnesota which took place over the weekend as he spoke from New York on Monday. A bomb went off in New York's busy Chelsea neighbourhood Manhattan on Saturday night, injuring 29, and another blast occurred at a train station in Elizabeth in New Jersey.
