British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak says the UK has sanctioned officials running the Arctic penal colony where Russian opposition figure and critic of President Vladmir Putin Alexei Navalny died, saying Britian and its allies were considering "all options to hold Russia and Putin to account". The United States announces sanctions on Iraqi low-cost airline Fly Baghdad, saying it provided assistance to Iran's Revolutionary Guards and proxies, while also targeting leaders of a pro-Iranian Iraq militia for sanctions. In Russia's capital city of Moscow, polling stations are now open for the ongoing mayoral election. Until the morning of the 10th of September, citizens could only vote online. The elections' outcome strongly leans towards incumbent mayor Sergei Sobyanin, standing out as the clear favorite. Plumes of smoke rise in the mountainous Jabal al-Zawiya area of Syria's Idlib province following bombings by Russian aircraft. The White Helmets volunteer emergency service said that two children were killed and five other civilians wounded when their home in the village of Kansafra was hit.
