People Mourn Dead Relatives By Dressing Up Real Human Skulls for ‘Day of the Natitas’

Description

Bolivians across the country marked the annual Festia de las Natitas on Wednesday, carrying real skulls of the deceased and decking the skulls out in sunglasses, hats, and sometimes even placing lit cigarettes in their mouths. The Festival of the Natitas, which means 'the little pug-nosed ones,' derives from an Aymara tradition which existed prior to the Spanish colonisation of Bolivia and combines indigenous beliefs with Catholicism.

CEO Justin Crowe leads a team that converts the cremated ashes of deceased loved ones into a glaze that can be applied to everyday objects, like mugs, cups and plates, so that we can keep memories of our family, friends and lovers by our side long after they have breathed their last.
