Workers stage a protest at Nissan's Barcelona plant as the Japanese carmaker has decided to shut the factory where 3,000 people are employed. The industry ministry confirmed to AFP that Nissan's chief executive had informed it of its plan to stop operations at the Barcelona site, which groups several production facilities. IMAGES

Renault revealed its new driverless concept vehicle called the EZ-GO at the Geneva International Motor Show on Tuesday. EZ-GO is a Level 4 driverless vehicle, so it can change lanes, turn at an intersection, and keep a safe distance from the vehicle in front of it. Users will be able to access the EZ-GO from an app or from fixed locations and will enter through a hatch which opens at the front of the vehicle, which also make the auto wheelchair accessible. The EZ-GO can accomodate up to 6 people at a time and features a U-shaped seating arrangement, making the ride a social experience.
Nissan CEO Carlos Ghosn unveiled details of the latest model of the second-generation Nissan Leaf at the Consumer Electronics Show 2017 and introduced the company's new system for handling self-driving cars, dubbed Seamless Autonomous Mobility, or SAM. Developed with NASA tech, SAM is set to connect the autonomous vehicle with human support at a control centre in a bid to deal with unexpected situations that the car's internal system cannot handle alone.
