The Repsol Honda Team unveiled their 2018 livery during the squad’s official presentation, which took place today at the Jakarta International Expo, with Marc Marquez and Dani Pedrosa. The reigning MotoGP World Champion and his teammate had just completed a successful test in Thailand before flying to Indonesia with Team Manager Alberto Puig and Tetsuhiro Kuwata, HRC’s Director – General Manager Race Operations Management Division. This marked the fourth consecutive year that the Repsol Honda Team launch has been hosted by Astra Honda in Indonesia, where MotoGP is hugely popular and Marc and Dani are heroes to the youth generation, and they’re an inspiration for the young riders from Astra Honda’s “Step Up Program,” who attended today’s event.
"Four weeks after the Isle of Man TT, MotoGP is getting ready to challenge its Tourist Trophy, but this one is on the TT Circuit Assen. The Dutch track is the only one to have hosted races since the founding of the World Championship and will play host to the 8th appointment in the 2018 World Championship from June 29th to 1st july. Dating back to 1925, the track has changed its configuration and length plenty of times. In 1992, it was at Assen that Mick Doohan's right leg risked being amputated after he fell during a qualification lap and got trapped under his Honda. His limb was saved by Dr. Costa, but when he came back to win, credit went in large part to the thumb master cylinder Brembo engineers designed especially for him so he could activate the rear brake without using a pedal. Even though it has 18 corners, TT Circuit Assen is very drivable with lots of fast turns and only one that is tight. This track also stands out because the deceleration is lower than at others. The maximum speed doesn't go over 310 km/h but the number of fast curves guarantees the braking systems can cool down with ease. There are very few problems at this track, but one involves weather conditions. In 2014, the MotoGP riders started off with steel brakes because of the rain, then halfway through the race the rain stopped and many changed to bikes with carbon brakes. But these brakes hadn't been warmed up enough and some of the riders complained about problems in the first few braking sections."

The British Touring Car Championship (BTCC) announcements ramped up for the new season with Cataclean Racing unveiling its race car, a Mercedes-Benz A-Class run by Ciceley Motorsport and driven by Renault Clio UK Cup graduate, Dan Rowbottom, who will make his BTCC debut this season.AmD Tuning revealed its new livery for the team’s Honda Civics, which will be raced by Sam Tordoff and Rory Butcher in the 2019 British Touring Car Championship season, while Motorbase Performance revealed Ollie Jackson and Tom Chilton as their drivers for the upcoming season.The wraps also came off the Series Elite 2019 Jaguar XE SV Project 8 race car. This tantalising championship is a brand-new, one-make race series for over-50s, with each driver grappling with the 600hp, 200mph machine.F1 fans were in for a treat too, with the presentation of McLaren’s 2018 MCL33 F1 Car on the F1 Racing stand, alongside a full grid of cars from the summit of motorsport.

At Suzuka the days before the Grand Prix are full of bright sunshine and late summer temperatures. But the weather announces imminent rain, which could last, sometimes, until Saturday before qualifying. Most of the team arrived in Japan directly from Russia. It is always exciting to see how the Suzuka International Circuit comes alive day after day, as families who take the children to the big amusement park mingle with the fans of Formula 1, who are truly unique here for passion and inventiveness. If you ask a driver - and those of Scuderia Ferrari are no exception - to list his three favorite tracks, 99 percent will include the track created in 1962 by the Dutchman John Hugenholz to build a test track commissioned by Honda. It is actually a ""modular"" circuit, which can take advantage of different configurations and lengths depending on the type of race: but the track of the Grand Prix, with its 5,807 Km, is naturally the best known. A succession of breathless curves, including the upward double ""they"" that inspired more modern installations such as Austin. Few braking, top speed close to 330 Kmh despite not long straights, overtaking not easy but always busy riders. A ""rhythm"" track where a good aerodynamic balance is the key to being fast."
Day one, en route from the Peruvian capital Lima to the bivouac located around the city of Pisco, consisted of a total of 332 kilometres of stage, with only 84 km against the clock was enough to set up the first official race leader board of the 2019 edition of the Dakar Rally. 80% of the route took place in the dunes, on a stage which covered some dried up river beds that were navigationally more demanding. Nevertheless, all the members of the Monster Energy Honda Team riders were able to overcome the hazards successfully.Temperature soared as the sun beat down onto the dunes of Adrenarena, yet despite this, Joan Barreda was scorching too clocking up a great time of 57’36” to win the stage and become the provisional race leader. Team-mate Ricky Brabec set the third fastest time 2’52” behind the Spanish rider. Kevin Benavides hampered with the task of being the first of the elite riders to open the track, was ahead for much of the day but the Argentinean ended up with the eighth fastest time on the day, one place ahead of Chilean Jose Ignacio Cornejo, ninth some 5 ’22 adrift of Barreda. Paulo Gonçalves finished eleventh 6’41” behind the Dakar’s first leader.

The specially outfitted Type R joins the TCA-class Civic Si and TCR-class Type R in HPD's portfolio of Civic-based, turn-key racing machines.Designed specifically for TC-class competition, the Civic Type R TC was developed and tested in-house by HPD engineers as a modified version of the production Civic Type R designed exclusively for track use, with final assembly done by Gradient Racing in Austin, Texas. HPD engineers developed and tested the Civic Type R TC race car in-house, drawing on experience gained from production car and race vehicle engineering, including development of the HPD Civic Si TCA race car. The HPD-developed Civic Type R race car begins life as a body in white from Honda's Swindon, England, plant, and uses its road- and track-proven 2.0-liter VTEC Turbo engine supplied by the Honda of America Mfg. engine plant in Anna, Ohio, producing between 270 and 330 horsepower, depending on the series application.
