True to the legendary abilities of the racing driver whose name it bears, the McLaren Senna has been designed, engineered and developed to be the ultimate road-legal McLaren track car. With 800PS (789bhp) and 800Nm (590b ft) from its 4.0-litre, twin-turbocharged V8 – McLaren’ s most powerful-ever internal combustion engine in a road car – and the ability to generate a staggering 800kg of downforce, the 1,198kg McLaren Senna delivers the purest possible connection between driver and car. Performance is breathtaking. The McLaren Senna can cover 0–100km/h (62mph) in 2.8 seconds; 0-200km/h (124 mph) is achieved in just 6.8 seconds and a standing quarter-mile (402m) in only 9.9 seconds. Impressive though the straight-line acceleration and maximum speed of 340km/h (211 mph) are, the true depth of the performance credentials of the new Ultimate Series McLaren will be revealed when it calls on downforce of up to 800kg on a circuit, against the stop-watch. The McLaren Senna combines low vehicle weight, extreme power, aerodynamic excellence and a revolutionary, active suspension system to deliver the most responsive and engaging road car experience to date from the British luxury sportscar and supercar maker.
The McLaren Senna GTR was unveiled to the public at the Geneva International Motor Show in the Palexpo convention centre on Tuesday. Inspired by Formula 1 icon Ayrton Senna, the $1million supercar is made of lightweight carbon fibre and comes in five colours, including the same yellow and green scheme used by Senna. Each Senna GTR takes over 1,000 hours to produce, which contributes to the eye-watering price tag.
Rolls Royce revealed the new 2018 Phantom VIII, the first car built on what Rolls-Royce calls its new Architecture of Luxury, a high-strength aluminum chassis. This twin-turbocharged V12 leviathan has a starting price of about $450,000.
Land Rover revealed a limited-edition two-doors coupe version, to celebrate the 70th anniversary of Range Rover. Only 999 examples will be built, and they will be hand assembled by the brand’s Special Vehicle Operations. It has a wood-trimmed centre console running the length of the cabin, completed with leather armrests for both front and rear passengers seats. The SV Coupé has a digital display and an infotainment screen from Velar. There is a full range of options that the Range Rover can offer, including the two-tone leather-free and trims. A powerful petrol V8 engine with around 550hp comes on SV Coupé.
KIA showed its 3rd generation Ceed compact. The car has been redesigned with an upgraded design, new technology and improved driving condition. Kia has removed the apostrophe in the car’s name changing it from Cee’d to Ceed. At the centre of the dashboard is an infotainment system, available as either a 5.0 or 7.0-inch touchscreen audio, or 8.0-inch touchscreen navigation system. Petrol options include an updated version of 1.0-litre T-GDi (Turbocharged Gasoline Direct injection) engine, producing 120hp, as well as a new 1.4-litre T-GDi power unit (140hp). A 100hp 1.4-litre MPi (Multi-Point injection) engine will also be available. Every engine will be paired with a 6-speed manual transmission and a 7-speed double-clutch transmission. The new Cee’d will go on sale in Europe during the second quarter of 2018.
