Catalan's Ousted Leader Agrees To Election

Description

When Spain's central government took over Catalonia to prevent it from seceding, a snap election was called by the government. On Tuesday, the region's ousted leader Carles Puigdemont agreed to the election but he said the fight for independence would go on. After the Catalan regional parliament issued a unilateral declaration of independence on Friday, Puigdemont traveled to Brussels, but he has been summoned to appear in court in Madrid on Thursday and Friday. Belgium's crisis center is evaluating whether Puigdemont needs to be protected by Belgian authorities.
