Mercedes AMG officially unveiled its newest 600 bhp plus AMG GT concept car at the Geneva Motor Show in Switzerland on Tuesday. The new concept car is the brainchild of AMG top executive Tobias Moers and was created to celebrate Mercedes-AMG's 50th anniversary. The AMG concept features a four-door saloon design and a coupe-like roofline. Under the hood, the Mercedes-AMG GT packs a twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V8 engine with an output of over 600 bhp. The engine is also expected to be paired with AMG's 7-speed transmission. The Mercedes-AMG GT will go head-to-head with a revered list of competition which includes the BMW 6 Series Gran Coupe, the Porsche Panamera, and the Audi S7. The production version of the car is expected to hit the road in the latter half of 2018.
Engineer Gorden Wagener unveiled the Vision Mercedes-Maybach 6 concept car at the Mercedes Lounge at Pebble Beach, California on Friday during the world famous Moneterey Car Week festivities, drawing oohs and ahs from the croud. The Mercedes S-Class coupe doesn’t sacrifice comfort and luxury for speed and handling – it ticks all those boxes with ease.Viewed in isolation, the Mercedes S-Class coupe seems like an expensive two-door sports car, with a choice of three powerful engines, a luxurious interior and high running costs. However, when you compare it to rivals like the Bentley Continental GT and Aston Martin DB9, the big Merc starts to look like a bit of a bargain.For the performance on offer, the S-Class coupe's running costs aren't actually that bad. Yes, compared to a Ford Focus hatchback, a lowly 30mpg doesn't look great, but when you take into account the powerful engines and sporty handling, it's actually pretty impressive. Besides, if you can afford the car's list price, the high fuel consumption is unlikely to worry you.
