  • Musicologist discovers three sonatas by Pisendel that did not have signature

The Hague (Netherlands), Nov 23 (EFE) .- (Camera: David Morales Urbaneja) A Spanish musicologist living in the Netherlands, Javier Lupiáñez, has discovered in a Dresden library three sonatas by Johann Georg Pisendel that were not signed, expanding the reduced catalogue of one of the most enigmatic composers of the Baroque.FOOTAGE OF JAVIER LUPIAÑEZ AND THE SONATAS.SOUNDBITES OF LUPIAÑES.Translation:"It's very hard to know whether it's from Pisendel or not, that's why I've spent more than a year investigating the writing, the paper, comparing it to those that we know belong to Pisendel, comparing it to other manuscripts comparing the style, and in the end, I concluded that it was from Pisendel. Now, an article in the "Ad Parnassum" magazine, a musicologist magazine explains the process." "Since Pisendel has such a small catalogue, every edition of that catalogue is very important because it shows us something new. If it had many things, adding something needs to be very special, but every thing is special. And with these sonatas, since the process was investigating the work manuscripts, thanks to these sonatas we can see how Pisendel thought, although it's quite adventurous to say this, but how we worked, how he got ready for his interpretations/performances. With these sonatas, we have 2 sonatas that have the raw and then a final copy, so it helps what Piselden's composing process was like, and therefore what the composing process was like in the 18th century."

Now, Gizmodo reports that on Wednesday, the finish line came into view. Arizona Attorney General Mark Brnovich announced that an investigation involving 34 states is concluding with a settlement and no admission of guilt from Apple. With no admission of guilt from Apple, the proposed settlement includes a $113 million fine to be distributed amongst the states involved.
