Carlos Ghosn Out On Bail Again


According to Reuters, Former Nissan Chairman Carlos Ghosn is out on bail again. The disgraced automotive executive was first arrested in Tokyo late last year due to allegations of financial misconduct. He was released from jail a second time on April 25th, after paying $4.5 million for bail. Ghosn also agreed to limit contact with his wife as he awaits trial. Prosecutors at a court in Tokyo appealed his release, which was rejected by the court.

    TOKYO -- Carlos Ghosn’s latest bail application was rejected by a Japanese court, extending his detention and helping prosecutors build their case against the fallen car titan who has already been in jail for almost two months. The decision was announced Tuesday by the Tokyo District Court. Ghosn’s lawyers had submitted a bail application last week after the executive was indicted for a second count of financial misconduct accusations. The court did not give a reason for denying bail.

    According to Reuters, disgraced automotive executive Carlos Ghosn has offered to wear an electronic ankle tag for his release on bail. The former CEO of Nissan was apprehended by Japanese authorities about two months ago for alleged financial crimes. The latest rejection by a Tokyo court is a win for the prosecutors, who can now keep Ghosn detained as they continue to build their case ahead of an eventual trial that could be as long as six months away. The former Nissan chairman had also offered to surrender his passports and give shares as collateral.
