Marvel's "Avengers: Endgame" Has Record-Breaking $1.2 Billion Opening Weekend

According to a report by Business Insider, Marvel's 'Avengers: Endgame' raked in a record-shattering 1.2 billion-dollars worldwide in its opening weekend, dethroning its predecessor 'Infinity War' which grossed just 640 million. Business Insider reports that "Endgame's" success can be attributed to Disney's years-long investment in franchises following a series of studio acquisitions under CEO Bob Iger. In 2006 Disney snatched up Pixar for 7.4 billion dollars, in 2009 the House of Mouse picked up Marvel for $4 billion dollars, and finally, in 2012, Lucasfilm was purchased for another $4 billion dollars.
