London's second ever 'Modest Fashion Week' saw models hit the catwalks in the UK capital this weekend. More than 40 brands from emerging designers and international names showcased their collections on the runway at Victoria House. The event, set up by UK-based e-commerce modest fashion company Haute Elan, aims to give a space to brands that cater for Muslim and modestly dressed women.
Meet Ya Li, a lover of stuffed animals and claw machine aficionado who has a collection of over 7,000 stuffed toys cluttering her apartment in Qingyuan, China, which she has won over the past year and a half. The 28-year-old press photographer spent over 40,000 yuan, or about $6,300, to aquire her fluffy collection and now hopes to sell her stuffed animals to raise money for charity.
Paralympic champion Olesya Vladykina swapped her swimming suit for a floral dress to take part in Moscow Fashion Week on Saturday. The 29-year-old swimmer lost her left arm and her best friend in a terrible bus crash nine years ago while on holiday in Thailand. Amazingly, she returned to the sport just a month after the crash and competed in the 2008 Summer Paralympics in Beijing, winning a gold medal.
