Syrian refugees in Turkey began returning to their homes in Tal Abyad on Wednesday after Kurdish forces seized the border town in a major blow to the Islamic State group, yet it is still unsafe for most of those 1.8 million refugees to return.

Syrian refugees in Turkey's port city of Izmir speak of their frustration as their dreams of starting new lives in Europe die following a landmark deal between the European Union and Ankara to stem the massive influx of people fleeing civil war at home.
Tens of thousands of people are fleeing Aleppo as Syrian troops, backed by Russian air force, close in the city. Most of these refugees arrive to the Syrian-Turkish border where they live in tents awaiting to be admitted into Turkey.
