The Aurus Senat presidential limousine and Senat sedan were showcased for the first time at the Moscow International Automobile Salon. The cars were developed by the NAMI (the Central Scientific Research Automobile and Automotive Engines Institute) as part of the Cortege [Kortezh] project and can be equipped with either a 4.4-litre V8 engine which generates 598hp or a 6.6-litre V12 which produces 830hp. According to the Ministry of Trade and Industry, the cars are expected to be offered for sale in 2019 at prices starting from 6-7 million roubles (€80,000 – €93,000, $95,000 - $111,000).

One of the most epic drag races ever took place at the 2017 MAKS Air Show in Russia on Saturday - pitting a MIG-29UB fighter jet against a Formula 1 race car. The Formula 1 vehicle took the lead in the beginning but the MIG's engines warmed up quickly and the jet quickly overtook the race car before going airborn. The action took place on the grounds of the Zhukovsky airfield outside Moscow, and featured some of the world's fastest four-wheeled vehicles racing different aircraft on the race track in a mini event called the Festival of Speed.
Nissan CEO Makoto Uchida welcomes the restructuring of the cooperation agreement between car manufacturers Renault and Nissan, which sees Renault reducing its stake in the Japanese firm from 43.4 percent to 15 percent, the same size as Nissan's share in its French counterpart. Speaking at a press conference in London, Makoto Uchida says he's "very confident that this new structure will deepen mutual trust," and will "ensure that each member contributes with their strengths and works with shared ambitions." A Tokyo court on Thursday handed a six-month suspended jail sentence to Greg Kelly, a former aide to ex-Nissan chief Carlos Ghosn, on financial misconduct charges. Prosecutors had sought a two-year sentence for Kelly, an American citizen who was detained alongside Ghosn in November 2018. The sentence will be suspended for three years, the judge said Thursday.
