There's No Multiplayer 'Fallout 4,' But Ideas Were Tossed Around

There's an alternate universe where every single Elder Scrolls and Fallout game features a multiplayer mode. Bethesda Softworks' beloved open world RPGs are all solo affairs in the world that we know, and that's by design. The dev team isn't ignorant of the fact that some of its fans would like to explore vast fantasy landscapes with friends; the devs are just honest about what would and wouldn't work within the context of their creative vision. That doesn't stop them from trying, however. "Believe it or not, every time we do a game we design a multiplayer mode just to see what we would do," Fallout 4 director Todd Howard told Mashable at E3 2015.
