The search for life beyond our solar system has taken an exciting turn, after a Belgian-led team reported finding planets with the potential to host life.
NASA revealed new findings about the discovery of seven new planets outside our solar system, three of which are located in the 'habitable zone' of their star, meaning that they could potentially become a home away from home for us earthlings. The planets are 39-light years away from Earth and circle the TRAPPIST-1 star, marking the greatest number of habitable-zone planets outside of our solar system.
The discovery of three planets that circle a small, dim star could bolster the chances of finding life beyond Earth, astronomers say. John Russell reports.
