Dozens protest in support of Philippines' largest media group

Quezon City, May 7 (EFE/EPA).- Dozens of people gathered in Quezon City to protest in support of ABS-CBN channel, the Philippines' largest telecommunications group after it had been forced to shut down.The National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) of the Philippines ordered ABS-CBN channel to immediately stop operations on Tuesday.The order came a day after its license expired, while its renewal is pending debate in the Congress following numerous delays.ABS-CBN, which employs some 11,000 people, is Southeast Asia's oldest television channel and has been on the air for 25 years.
