Audi DTM 2020 - HYLO safety device

Description

The HYLO (High yaw lift off) is a new part designed by Audi Sport for the rear wing support pillars of DTM race cars. It is aimed at increasing safety during accidents. Thanks to the new part and its increased surface area, the aerodynamic forces of lift are reduced during accidents wherein the car has spun and is moving sideways through the air. At the same time, the speed at which these types of accidents occur is reduced. The HYLO was seen for further testing during the official DTM test days at the Nürburgring, when it was fitted to the Audi RS 5 DTM test car, which was running with Mike Rockenfeller’s Twin Busch livery design.

The Audi A3 Sportback, SEAT Leon, ISUZU D-Max, Kia Sorento and Land Rover Defender achieve the maximum five stars. When it comes to safety, the VW group siblings are in no way inferior to their famous cousin, but it is the Leon that, thanks to more compatible front-end design, has the upper hand with a very creditable 92 percent for Adult Occupant Protection.

The IT Center will support AUDI AG’s future-oriented projects with ultra-modern hardware and software; in its technical concept, maximum availability and the highest level of failure safety are given utmost importance. By using groundwater for cooling and as a part of the so called LowEx network it also contributes to the sustainability at the site.
