Rumors have been flying about what, if anything, President Donald Trump will do during the inauguration of President-elect Joe Biden. According to Business Insider, one such story making the rounds is that Trump will visit his Turnberry golf resort in Scotland. In fact, a Scottish newspaper reported Sunday that a US military plane sometimes used by Trump is scheduled to arrive at an airport near the resort. But on Tuesday, Scotland's First Minister Nicola Sturgeon put an end to such speculation. Sturgeon said the country's national lockdown, which includes a prohibition on non-essential travel, applies to Trump as well.
In a speech to a cheering crowd in Vilnius, US President Joe Biden vows that the West will not abandon Ukraine in its fight against the Russian invasion. President Joe Biden will still leave Wednesday for the G7 summit in Japan but is reevaluating the rest of his planned tour of Asia, spokesperson for the White House National Security Council John Kirby tells reporters, as the White House negotiates with Republican leaders to avoid a US debt default. The World Health Organization will continue pushing until it finds an answer to how the Covid-19 pandemic started, the agency chief says, following a report suggesting it had abandoned the search. SOUNDBITE
President Joe Biden says he will veto any Republican legislation that threatens to sow "chaos" in the US economy. "I will not let it happen. Not on my watch. I will veto everything," he says in a speech at a Virginia pipe fitters union hall. SOUNDBITE
