So when Business Insider contributor Choncé Maddox got burned by her home warranty company skating out of some pricey repairs, she turned the tables. Instead of paying for another warranty, she put the same $500 she would have spent on it into a high-yield savings account for home maintenance. If a new air conditioner costs $2,000 to $3,000, she can come up with the money a lot quicker without paying for a warranty! Dozens of elderly women were killed across Central Russia nearly a decade ago. Now, CNN reports Russian authorities have detained a 38-year-old mechanic as the chief suspect in the case. The man posed as a social services representative or maintenance worker to gain the trust of his victims. The Russian Interior Ministry said his victims were retired women aged between 75 and 90 who lived alone. The suspect confessed following his detention. He said he attacked his first victim because he was hungry and 'lived on the street.'
