CUPRA starts production of the new Formentor e-HYBRID, which will be on the market starting from March. With the two new 204PS and 245PS plug-in hybrid versions, the first car uniquely developed and designed for CUPRA continues to prove that performance and electrification are a perfect match. The new CUPRA Formentor e-HYBRID, which in the first weeks will reach a daily production of 100 units, will contribute to reducing global CO2 emissions and meeting European targets. In addition, as of this month, the company is now taking orders for the CUPRA Formentor e-HYBRID in its 245PS version, while the 204PS version will be available in the coming weeks. With these two versions, which join the launches of the CUPRA Leon e-HYBRID and the CUPRA Leon e-HYBRID Sportstourer, the brand will have a total of six PHEV versions on the market. When the full range of powertrains is commercially available, CUPRA aims to reach total turnover of 1 billion euros. The future CUPRA el-Born, the brand’s first all-electric model, will also be added to the portfolio later this year.
Driving a car with the power output of the CUPRA Formentor VZ5 is quite an experience. But the thrills become even more extreme if you take it to an icy track in Lapland, Finland. CUPRA driver Jordi Gené pushes the brand’s most powerful model to the limit in the country’s northernmost region to show that its exclusive performance is perfect for all terrains.
Driving a car with the power output of the CUPRA Formentor VZ5 is quite an experience. But the thrills become even more extreme if you take it to an icy track in Lapland, Finland. CUPRA driver Jordi Gené pushes the brand’s most powerful model to the limit in the country’s northernmost region to show that its exclusive performance is perfect for all terrains.Going from 0-100 km/h in just 4.2 seconds is an over-the-top experience in any circumstance, and on this closed, icy track the sensation is multiplied. CUPRA’s most exclusive model to date, of which only 7,000 units have been produced, is its most powerful car. And it’s not just a sports car. Equipped with four-wheel drive, it adapts to all kinds of terrain, even those as unstable as this one, without losing any traction.
CUPRA continues to move forward in its goal to create a universe of experiences around the car. After announcing their partnership at the CUPRA Anniversary digital event last February, the unconventional challenger brand and De Antonio Yachts present their first collaboration to the world. The two brands have worked together on the design of the De Antonio Yachts D28 Formentor, a high-performance yacht inspired by the first model uniquely designed and developed for the automotive brand, the CUPRA Formentor. This showboat is a unique design exercise that will lay the groundwork for the launch of a special limited edition of the D28 in the iconic CUPRA colours and finishes that will go on sale at the end of 2021.
The CUPRA Born is the brand’s first 100% electric vehicle and the next stage of the unconventional challenger brand’s development. It integrates the most advanced powertrain technology: the pure electric system is available with a choice of either 150PS (110kW) or 204PS (150kW) electric engines that deliver energy to the rear wheels. With the addition of an e-Boost package, maximum output can reach up to 170kW (231PS), with battery packs of 58kWh and 77kW, to deliver a range of up to 420km (58kWh) or up to 548km (77kWh).When equipped with the e-Boost package and with the 58kWh battery, the CUPRA Born goes from 0 to 50km/h in only 2.6s and the 0-100km/h in just 6.6 seconds.
