New Specialized S-Works Tarmac SL7 2021 Review

Description

The brand new, much-anticipated Specialized Tarmac SL7 is finally here. It promises a platform that’s now so fast it’s time to wave goodbye to Specialized's aerodynamic racer, the Venge. The new Tarmac SL7 is a full 45 seconds faster than the previous Tarmac SL6 over 40km, according to Specialized's aerodynamic testing, and yet comes at a complete bike weight of 6.7kg. That's below the UCI minimum. Cyclist Editor-at-Large and veteran bike tester Stu Bowers has had a few weeks with the bike ahead of the launch, and makes his initial judgments on the bike. For the full story, visit cyclist.co.uk In association with Specialized, specialized.co.uk What do you think of the new Tarmac, and will you miss the Venge? • New Specialized S-Works Aethos: First Ride Review

Specialized has unveiled its brand new lightweight road bike platform, the Aethos, which boasts an incredible frame weight of 588g in a 56cm size, and hits only 5.9kg for an overall build. The lightest production disc road bike we’ve ever seen, the Aethos has not been conceived for competition in the WorldTour, and it makes no attempt to stick to the UCI’s weight limit of 6.8kg. Yet, despite it’s 5.9kg overall weight, this bike is not simply an exercise in cutting grams. Specialized claims that the Aethos is the most technologically advanced bike the brand has ever produced, yet is designed around the needs and passions of the most dedicated bike lovers. • Giant TCR Advanced SL 2021 Review: New vs Old

How much do bikes change from one generation to another? The Giant TCR Advanced SL 0 is Gian't flagship race bike, used by Team CCC and Greg Van Avermaet at WorldTour level. We compare it to the last iteration of the same bike, and look at how the design has changed. The Giant TCR goes back further than this, though. It is a piece of cycling history – the first frame to introduce a 'compact geometry', with a sloped top tube that increased stiffness, improved aerodynamics and reduced weight. Lining up against the likes of the Trek Émonda, Specialized S-Works Tarmac and Cannondale SuperSix, the latest TCR needs to boast some impressive numbers, and Giant doesn’t disappoint.
