Nokia looks to be plotting big phone announcements for MWC 2018 next month, right alongside the rumored Samsung Galaxy S9 and Huawei P11. The resurrected smartphone brand, run by HMD Global, has been "super busy" planning for the Barcelona mobile conference, according to a cryptic tweet by Chief Product Officer Juho Sarvikas. While no concrete details are divulged in terms of what we’ll actually see, taking a glimpse at some recent rumors might point us in the right direction. The oft-rumored Nokia 9 is slated to release later this month alongside a revamped Nokia 8, though MWC 2018 may be our first opportunity to see them in the flesh. Nokia’s flagship efforts got off to a surprisingly good start and seeing these phones arrive in more territories would be a good move.
Microsoft teased Windows 8 at its BUILD conference in California this week, showing off the operating system on a Samsung tablet. The 5,000 developers in attendance all got one of the devices preloaded with an early version of Windows 8. It runs an Intel Core i5 processor has a 64gb SSD and 4gigs of memory. The company was eager to show off the OS's new interface.The company said the reason for such a fluid UI is because Windows 8 takes advantage of hardware acceleration. A Windows 8 developer preview is available for download, but there's no actual ship date for the OS.
The Lumia devices are Nokia's first big push for phones running the Windows Phone operating system after the company announced a partnership with Microsoft in February.
